The Jays have posted their non-roster invitees to spring training on the main page. There are a couple of hot prospects just there for some fun (Snider, Arencibia), a few surprises in guys who are in AA and fading fast (Cannon, Vermilyea), and a whooooooooole bunch of lousy relief pitchers they picked up for depth.

Mine must be lost in the mail. Oh well, not the first party I’ve crashed.

  1. You forgot to mention Jeroloman, I’ll be excited to see all the walks from the on base machine that he is.

  2. Yeah, I wasn’t quite sure what to call him. I was surprised he’s getting a look so soon and it will be interesting to see how he does against better pitching. Sure he’s got a good eye, but if you can’t hit good stuff they don’t have to pick at the corners with it.

Total speculation, but it seems to me they might be more likely to invite a guy like that where they’re not sure what they’ve got in order to see him in action- like taking a look at Arencibia to see if he’s really a catcher. I guess it could also be the Jays just don’t have any other prospects above A+ to invite. 😉

Anyone have any idea why Wayne Lydon is coming to the party? Does he do great impressions, or what??!
