What’s on TV after a 15-inning AS game

with 8 comments

Was anyone else rooting for both teams to run out of pitchers!?! I certainly was. Only one more inning and maybe mlb would finally have to admit that the All Star game is actually the terrible joke that everyone knows it is.

Brilliant Idea: why not let a couple pitchers from the “futures game” hang out in the pens, soaking it in, and would only be called upon in the most dire of emergencies? Just tossing that one out there before ML managers and GMs start boycotting the game when “their guy” throws 140 pitches.

A little update for those who have been ferociously chronicling the trials and tribulations of our favourite x-beer guy.

Apparently, the very same people who decided it was a good idea to turn MTV from a music video channel into one with programming exclusively designed for 12-yr old girls, have taken up Wayne McMahon’s cause, possibly hoping to cash in on his 15-mins of wrongful dismissal fame. Hey, at least he’s found himself another paying gig:

Brilliant Idea 2: The dude I was driving behind the other day with a “SkyDome” logo vanity plate! Sweet!

  1. I was driving in Marcum the other day behind a car with the plate “GO JAYS”…he must have been all over that one pretty early. Also, my neighbour’s plate reads “4R JAYS”…just a vanity update.

  2. In the abstract, yes, I was hoping for a tie, partly because it would be so fitting for Yankee Stadium to spit out that whole horrific display.

(By the way, I am attempting to get THE CURSE OF YANKEE STADIUM off the ground. Last Yankee World Series championship: 2000. Agreement reached to build “New Yankee Stadium”: 2001.)

But viscerally, I couldn’t help wanting my game not to be embarrassed AGAIN.

I did want to slap Francona. Maybe the change they really need to make is to have the game managed by a couple of Cranky Old Bastards. Earl Weaver and Dick Williams could’ve done it last night. Or Willie Mays–man, that guy looked surly.

  3. And how many more GM workers got laid off today? Good thing MTV is directing activist youth where their attention is needed most.

  4. You mean MTV doesn’t provide enlighenting, mind-expanding programming for today’s youth? Shame shame. The Real World is an excellent source of news and current events – and a role model for the right ethical choices children should be making in a modern world. Like….I’m sixteen and where’s my boob job, car and pony?!?

  5. The manufactured Fox drama was great. “Everyone’s worst case scenario, Francona has to use a pitcher he promised not to. The game has forced his hand”

“They are out of position players!!” Running out of pitchers would’ve been great. How many guys were tagged out at home?

And Ari? I love how you misspelled Markham as Marcum. You’re such a fan! I thought Marcum might’ve had a go jays license plate.

  7. Now, Fox was terrible as per usual, but don’t get me started on the number of drug/god references that ESPN had directed at Hamilton during the durby.

Jon, you should do a greatest hits compilation.

  8. Makes using Halladay for only 9 pitches look kinda dumb, doesn’t it?
