Hurting me Softly

The good news: Adam Lind is continuing to crush the ball in AAA. He has 18 RBI in his last 10 games and is hitting .326 with 2 HR and a triple over that span. His OPS this season is now .926, and his OBP is .390. Obviously he’s ready, given a legitimate opportunity. Nobody kills the ball with patience like that and then can’t hack it at the next level. Nobody. (By the way, would J.P. really be holding him back if he thought there was any chance his job was on the line if the Jays didn’t make the playoffs, like everyone seems to assume?)

The bad news: J.P. has officially announced that the old plan of leaving Lind to rot in AAA is back in effect after his failings over 20 AB, and the team is busy pumping out praise of Wilkerson/Stewart/Inglett.

The much worse news: The guy we are paying ~10 million this year, who the only possible short-term reason for dumping was to free a space for Lind, is tearing the @#$@$ cover off the ball. Since leaving the Jays, Frank Thomas is hitting .305 with an OBP over .400, 4 HR and 16 RBI in a little under a month.

The really scary news: We travel into his yard on Tuesday. And despite all the “mutual agreement” crapola that J.P. smeared all over this one once the writing was on the wall, I’m not so sure he’s ready to make nice…

  1. The Tank vs. Doc, Marcum, Litsch? Those are the exact 3 I would want him to face, because he loves taking walks and DMac and AJ can get wild at times, don’t want them serving up fastballs over the heart for Frank. Our junkballers (relatively speaking) are methodically going to make him look stupid.

  2. If you say so….Marcum gives up a ton of HR, too.

  3. Now, if you believe that Jays brass will do the exact opposite of what they say (which I do) one has to figure that Gibby’s love ballad for Brad Wilkerson and subsequent benching last night points towards a DFA for him and Lind recall in the near future.

  5. the jays are finally starting to hit…but i agree, it’s pretty fucking perplexing about Lind…wilkerson just hit a fucking grand slam! i must still be in binge-drinking induced coma, cuz that couldn’t have just happened…

and i’m looking forward to facing big frank. we all knew he’d tear it up and that the jays really fucked up there…idiots.
