The Mockingbird

End of an E.R.A.

Josh Towers has not been offered a contract for 2008, which ends his time with the Jays. Did Ricciardi have you going for a minute with that “pitching depth” routine? (Not me, but I did waste a truckload of virtual ink arguing that 3 million was a bargain price for a starter these days, no matter how incredibly (even historically!) bad he is…) It looks like J.P. just wanted one last chance to try and get anything for him at the winter meetings without it being completely obvious he was going to be a free agent the next week (a la Beane getting 2 nobodies from us for Scutaro).

Now the multi-million dollar question is: for how much will Towers sign with some lousy NL team, and *shudder* for how many years? Closest without going over wins a pint. Now head on over to Drunk Jays Fans to experience true anguish as only the Dutch serve it.
