The Jays took Vernon Wells, Troy Glaus, Davis Romero and Gustavo Chacin off the DL yesterday and had to drop someone from the 40-man roster. The casualty was Hector Luna, who was designated for assignment. Now he has to pass through waivers and then the Jays can release him or see if he’ll accept being sent to AAA.

  1. Luna looked kinda good – until he started to swing the bat. Yikes, I’ve never seen a bat go that slow.

  2. I’m no hitting coach (or hitter period) but it seemed really long and out of control as well, like he was just taking giant sweeping hacks at everything.

But wait, he’s 5th in average in the Dominican Winter League- that has to count for something, right? Right?? Maybe we should pick up Jose Lima who is leading the league in ERA as well…

  3. Did you say Lima Time?

Remember I’m also pointing a loaded gun at you kinda like this one: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/guns/recoilless-auto-shotgun-fires-300-rounds-per-minute-no-cleaning-or-lube-required-324453.php?autoplay=true

    Although with JPs recent jem:

“We need all the pitching that we can get. We plan on Towers being here.”

Things couldn’t be more primed for Lima Time. Fuck.

  4. Lima Time is to baseball as Miller Time is to beer. No matter how desperate you are for a quick fix to avoid the realities of your current situation you’re going to regret it terribly the next morning.

J.P. just says stuff like that…he has something in mind and knows he has to provide a sound bite that doesn’t confuse anyone. Really, it means nothing. You saw what incredibly little faith they had in him last year. He’s not going to be in the mix come April. Towers is just an asset that is worth slightly less than zero at this point.

  5. It’s five o’clock in the morning. The Rays just swept your favorite team in a four game homestand. You just pissed on a dumpster. It’s Lima Time.

  7. And the blog wars continue…I couldn’t help notice Jeff call bloggers arrogant, obnoxious and ripping his inane statements about Omar Visquel apart with statistical analysis “Zealotry”.

He’s gotta admit though, when it comes to sheer mockery the huddled masses have it by a landslide.

  8. I must agree, the guys at Fire Joe Morgan have their heads screwed on the right way:

“Yep, every Hall of Famer did something unique. Mike Schmidt played with his hat sideways. Roberto Clemente chewed other people’s fingernails. Tris Speaker was Japanese. Lou Boudreau rode a dolphin into the batter’s box. Nap Lajoie would only use John Wilkes Booth’s dismembered leg as a bat. And he corked it. Johnny Mize was from the future.

Catfish Hunter breathed nitrogen. Don Drysdale invented the mandolin.”

    Now that’s great material.
