It was recently announced by J.K. Rowling that her 7th and final book in the Harry Potter series will be called “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

The following titles were suggested by individual members of the Toronto Blue Jays, though all rejected. I invite you to figure out which title belongs with which Bluebird.

  1. Harry Potter and the Legend of Bo Junior
  2. Harry Potter and the Golden Glove
  3. Harry Potter and the Curse of the Comebacker
  4. Harry Potter and the Ghost of Tommy John
  5. Harry Potter and the Essence of Adolfo
  6. Harry Potter and the Tenacious Tendon
  7. Harry Potter and the Frozen Disc
  8. Harry Potter and the Order of the Zaunbies
  9. Harry Potter and the Enchanted Ice Bucket
  10. Harry Potter and the Chief of Syracuse

  1. Hahaha, that’s great material. Let me make a guess or two:

    1. B.J. Ryan
    2. Vernon Wells
    3. Roy Halliday
    4. A.J Bernett
    5. Gustavo Chacin
    6. Victor Zambrano
    8. Greg Zaun
    10. Russ Adams

Those last two are some serious scratchers. I got my best monkies on the job!

  2. Is 7. Matt Stairs – who adds a little Canuck flavour?

  3. And 9. John Thomson?

  4. I can’t believe you spelt 3 Jays wrong. I banish thee!!!

At the time me and Hamid were crunching these, 10 was supposed to be Towers.

Stairs for #7 is going in a totally different direction than intended (different kind of disc), but that’s a good one.

    9. Is not Thomson, but it’s easy. It saved his career!!!

  5. 7 has to be Sparky and his back problem

Unfortunately 9 could be so many people…is George Poulous (sp?) still the trainer?

    Who’s John Thomson?

  6. Dan, I agree, your spelling touch is wearing off. There will be no Scripps National Spelling Bee for you!

Yeah, number 7 is Sparky, but admittedly, also not who we were originally thinking of!

Number 9 is very obvious if you think about it.

Jon and I were cracking up when we wrote down HP and the Chief of Syracuse. Classic.

  7. John Thomson is our preseason “lock” for #3 starter!!!

The man in question put his foot in an ice bucket for an hour after every game last season…I guess that’s less legendary than I thought. He seems to be rather sprightly these days…

  8. Ack. Spelling shmelling. I think I’m just going to write things out phonetically from now on. Where’s the god damn spell checker in wordpress when you need one??

    9. Frank the Tank. The Big Hurt. The reason they raised the celing in the clubhouse. The only man in MLB that towers over Troy Glaus.

  9. You mean Gregg, Halladay, and Burnett are in the dictionary now?? ASEWOME!

    Yep, that’s the #9…

“First, there was his health. He missed nearly 200 games in the 2004-05 seasons after twice breaking his left ankle. Gruelling rehab and a maintenance routine that includes submerging both feet in buckets of ice for 20 minutes after a game have helped solve that problem.”
