The Spell is Broken
Please proceed in an orderly fashion to the nearest parking lot to celebrate with the traditional combination of beer and fireworks. The Blue Jays just won 6 games in a row for the first time since May 4-10, 2004!!! That ties them (with 14 other teams) for the 22nd longest winning streak of any team this year! Over the 755 games that it took them to accomplish this mighty feat, there was a 98.1 percent chance of a 6 game win streak for a .500 team. Guess they just got lucky…
Looking forward and breaking new ground, here’s the last time the Jays won more than 6 in a row:
| Streak | Last Accomplished |
| 7 Games | September 29, 2002 |
| 8 Games | April 22, 1999 |
| 9 Games | September 5, 1998 |
| 10 Games | September 6, 1998 |
| 11 Games | September 7, 1998 |
| 12 Games | HA! |
Let’s hope they rubbed the same magic powder on Marcum in AAA that Litsch got (or at least that Shaun has a cut fastball again) so they can write some history – or at least make it easier to forget embarrassingly long stretches of it that are bad. One more win ties the longest streak of the century! *gag*

It appears to the naked eye that Shaun is indeed throwing his cutter again. Yay.

You are correct, sir…he’s only throwing one breaking pitch though, which is dropping like a curveball but moving sideways like a slider.
If that is indeed what’s happening, I am TOTALLY on board with our young pitchers dumping their curveballs in the minors. It was Marcum’s worst pitch by a landslide, too.
