Bad Week For Jays Fans
Someone should really give the MLB schedulers a list of Canadian Holidays. Last year on Victoria Day the Jays were playing a Exhibition game at Cooperstown (the last one ever, incidentally- apparently teams complained) and then were on a West coast road trip for Canada day. Then yesterday the Jays got their first day off of the month so they could travel home one day late for the Victoria Day long weekend. Bizarre.
Almost as bizarre as Rogers deciding not to televise any of the next 4 games in favour of the Memorial Cup. I know hockey ratings are probably gold, but could these games not be given to TSN or even CBC for a song? Seems like an incredibly dumb marketing move to pull the plug on the team that you own for so long (and it doesn’t help that the Jays are just achieving respectability).
Don’t even think about signing up for mlb.tv - Jays games are blacked out across Canada. So if you can’t make it to the Dome tonight and Radio isn’t enough, try Sopcast.

Being in Seattle for Canada Day made perfect sense. Safeco was packed with Canadians. It will make even more sense this year, when Canada Day isn’t a Sunday. I wouldn’t be surprised if both teams asked for it.
Why? I know a lot of Canadians make the trip, but wouldn’t there be more in Toronto anyway?
People in Toronto have 81 chances to go to a game. People in Vancouver have about 3, and if they’re on weeknights it’s less because they can’t necessarily take extra time off work to drive down. On Canada Day they don’t have to worry about that.
I’ll be in Safeco on July 1st (just like last year!) joining in the “Let’s go Blue Jays!” chants whenever and wherever they happen to spring up.
I’ve seen the Jays more at Safeco than I have in T.O., but then again, I live in Victoria. My only regret is that both of the games I’ll be seeing this year are night games. Was hoping to spend Canada Day sitting in the sun drinking unbelievable quantities of shitty American beer.
