They've still got some righties with pretty normal platoon advantages over their careers: Eckstein - Lefty a bit Hill - Lefty a lot Rios - Lefty normal Wells - Lefty a lot Rolen - Neutral Stairs - Righty a Lot (or Stew who's Neutral) Overbay - Righty a Lot Lind - Righty Zaun - Lefty Losing Thomas and Glaus is huge and I guess Rios' 2007 when he loved them was just a blip. But after last season's gross splits in the other direction, I would guess that they've clawed their way back to neutral, not too much in the other direction. Well, not 0-5 and hitting .199 (!!!!!!!!!!!) in the other direction. I don’t think they should SUCK against lefties. They’ve still got some righties with pretty normal platoon advantages over their careers:

Losing Thomas and Glaus is huge and I guess Rios’ 2007 when he loved them was just a blip. Their replacements - Rolen, Stew, & Lind just aren't as good against lefties to the degree those guys were. OTOH, the lineup is more balanced. Rolen hits righties better than Glaus, Stairs should do better vs RHP than Thomas, and ditto for Lind against righties. Pretty much our only hope against killing lefties is Hill & Wells. Rios usually is pretty similar against both, although this year he's crushing RHP and not lefties. And Rolen has surprisingly been better against RHP in recent years.... I guess what I'm trying to say is this team is gonna suck vs lefties, but they SHOULD be making up for it by being better against RHP.
