The Mockingbird

I will never forget the first time I saw Brian Tallet running in from the bullpen with his insane mutton chops and crazy stirrups…even Gregg “fashion diva” Zaun was killing himself as he ran in from the bullpen:

“I’ve seen some pictures of some of the old Blue Jays, when they were still playing in the old ballpark,” said Zaun, who tried hard to hold back his laughter after the game. “I was thinking, ‘This is a total flashback.’ If he had the old [uniform] on, the chops, and the socks way up, it would’ve been so perfect.

“You’ve got to applaud a guy for having a personal style and just rolling with it.”

“I like to keep my look different,” Tallet said. “Keep people guessing.

Of course that look didn’t last long because Tallet is a man on the move. He went quickly to the boot-cut:

And then this spring training blended in with the crowd by sporting hair down to his shoulders. But now he’s just gone one step further and over the edge, toppling into supercoolness. After pitching to and becoming friends with Sal Fasano during his demotion to AAA, he decided to honour him on his return to the big leagues by shaving his goatee into the full-out FU MANCHU!!! My first born to whomever can find a picture of this!
